Unique Auction Items

May 16th, 2008

Kids Need to Read are auctioning items from last December’s Browncoat Cruise. These items can’t be purchased so this may be your only chance to own a unique piece of Browncoat History.

There are two items being auctioned, the official Browncoat Cruise Souvenir Program signed by organiser Brian Wiser (producer of documentary DVD “Done the Impossible”). and a limited edition Browncoat Cruise Travel Poster (only 500 were made for those attending the cruise).

The poster has been autographed by the curise VIPs including: Ron Glass (Shepherd Book), Michael Fairman (Niska), Jonathan Woodward (Tracy), Nectar Rose (Lovebot), “Firefly Theme” vocalist Sonny Rhodes, Cedric & Hawke (Firefly fan band The Bedlam Bards) and poster’s artist Adam Levermore-Rich. The poster measures 17 x 22 inches and is designed to co-ordinate with the Blue Sun Travel Posters.

To get these autographs yourself you’d be looking at about $150 and then you get the poster too! Great chance for a bargain piece of Firefly History while supporting a good cause at the same time.

Nathan Fillion on Serenity’s future

May 11th, 2008

TruckerMovie.net: We know that there’s nothing on the horizon right now but it seems to be becoming a trend for Serenity actors visiting Australia (Alan Tudyk & Jewel Staite) to tell fans that it’s not yet time to give up on another movie, but with most of the cast being very busy in your careers right now, in your opinion, is there still any reason for fans to hope or do you think that time has passed?

Nathan Fillion: Firefly was an incredible lesson for me. I really fell in love with that show and the people I was working with and the story we were telling and the character I was playing. I fell in love and when it was taken away my hopes were dashed, I was crushed entirely. I though, I was disillusioned. I was angry, I was so angry and then the fans, the fans came through and then Joss made this thing happen and then this perfect storm of positivity that the wonderful people over at Universal, taking it upon themselves to say “yeah, there’s a story to be told here and lets do it” so I’ll never give up hope. When people say “is there gonna be another Serenity” not so far as I know, I mean when there will be you’ll know. People come to me when I’m signing their autograph “Is there going to be another Serenity”, this isn’t where you’re going to find out, this isn’t going to be the arena. But I’ll never say never, I can say not right now, not that I know of, nobody’s said anything to me, I could tell you that. That’s the truth, not right now, nothing right now, that’s the fact, but never say never, I’ve learned that because there’s Serenity of course.

Confirmation of New Firefly Release

April 8th, 2008

[Jewel] Staite revealed that she had recently been asked to provide new commentary for what she called “a special edition of Firefly in a box set”. Many of you were very excited, but some fans immediately questioned this, wondering if the Australia location of Staite’s revelation meant that perhaps this release is planned for “down under”, instead of the United States. Our own Gord Lacey contacted Fox Home Entertainment about Staite’s comments, and asked them if this release - if actually coming - would be on DVD or Blu-ray Disc. Fox replied that it is indeed coming, for Blu-ray Disc format!

The response we received from Fox was very brief, but also commented that “word travels fast”. As you can imagine by how recently Staite indicates she was contacted (she had “just heard”, as you may recall), this package is still in the planning and development stages. Therefore, a release timeframe hasn’t been set yet, and many details have not been finalized. Stay tuned, though, because we’ll be keeping a close eye on this, and will update you as further info comes in.

Mal’s Browncoat On Ebay

April 1st, 2008

That’s right folks, the genuine article from the TV Sereies Firefly as worn by Captain Malcolm Renolds himself - this is the genuine article so if you’re wanting to get yourself possibly the best piece of the ‘verse ever - now’s your chance.

Fans required to show up online on April 5th

March 30th, 2008

Fans of Firefly & Serenity are being urged to show their support for a Sequel to Serenity by visiting the Universal HD boards on Saturday April 5th just before 8 PM Eastern Standard Time - nothing else required, just be there.

Ni hao again fellow Browncoats! Operation Full Burn is still underway and as “Lift Off” to the series draws near I want to continue to show Universal that the ‘Verse is worth investing in. To do this I’d like Browncoats to show their support for the ‘Verse by showing up to these forums on April 5th just before 8 PM Eastern Standard Time as Serenity break atmo in High Def for the first time this season.

That’s it! That’s all a Browncoat has to do to show their shiny love for the ‘Verse. Just show up to the forums here as Serenity heads out into the High-Definition black for 14 weeks. It’s a piece of pressed protein cake with chocolaty frosting!

As always folks are welcome to say somethin’ if they got words but the point is to get as many Browncoats on the site as we can at one specific time “Lift Off” time in this case.

As of right now the most folks who have ever been on the Universal site at one time has been 90 folks. Sure it’s a nice round number but I want to blow it up with Browncoats so that Universal will see that we are still here and holdin’ for them to make Serenity 2.

That’s the notion folks. I hope to see everyone there… feel free to bring a WHOLE bunch of friends!

Jewel Staite Says More Firefly Coming

March 30th, 2008

OK. we got your attention and we’re not exactly lying but here’s the deal.

Jewel Staite attended the Supanova Expo in Melbourne, Australia this weekend and over the two days graciously answered a lot of questions from fans of Firefly and Stargate Atlantis. During the first session Jewel was asked what she thought the storyline of Serenity would go. Jewel replied, “I always wanted Kaylee to become a mother” and added “hopefully there’ll be a Serenity 2″.

In the Q&A session the following day, a fan asked if there was any reason to still hope for another movie, Jewel’s response was “Absolutely!”.

Jewel also told fans that she’d been asked to go to LA in the Spring to record a commentary for the new special edition of Firefly that they’re working on. Great news for fans, but Jewel wonders why they don’t just make more instead of re-releasing it again.
