Do you want a Serenity Sequel? …a call to action!

Since the release of the first Firefly based movie “Serenity”, fans have been crying out for a sequel and desperate for a “Big Damn Trilogy”. Over the past few months, fueled by a comment from Alan Tudyk (see this post) a spark of hope has been ignited in the hearts of Browncoats around the world.

Now is the time for a combined effort on the part of fans to tell Universal that they mean business. Movies are about money (as much as fans would like to think otherwise), the bottom line. Universal needs to be assured that not only will Serenity keep making them money, but that any future movies will make them MORE money, with no profit, there’s no movie - that’s the basic truth.

Letter writing campaigns have for years been an effective tool used to get attention from decision makers - but Serenity fans are suggesting a letter writing campaign with a difference, one that not only expresses the thanks and requests of the fans but one that Universal will actually make money from! That’s gotta get their attention…right?

Earlier in 2007 QMX released an official licenced merchandise product - the Blue Sun Travel Posters - popular with the fans, QMX shortly thereafter released a postcard sized set of the posters that could be used by fans for guerilla marketing - a unique way of “sending the signal” to their friends by mailing postcards around the world. Some fans took hold of this idea and developed the “Sending a Wave” campaign. The idea is to send letters to Universal using the Blue Sun Travel Postcards in the hopes that it will get the attention of those that matter - and using the bottom line to help.

You can purchase the postcards from QMX (or search Amazon). In direct response to the campaign QMX have temporarily reduced the cost of a set of 25 postcards by $5 for the duration of the campaign.

Write out your letters to Universal and say thanks for Serenity and ask for another movie or two if you wish - say whatever you like, let them know WHY you want another movie. Very importantly however, never ever be rude or nasty or insulting , we need to be nice, rational and polite.

Address your postcards to:

Universal Pictures
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

To be effective - we need to see a flood of postcards arriving at Universal - so don’t just think about it, do it!! Don’t waste any time. You want another Bid Damn Movie? It’s up to YOU to make it happen - it’s not going to work if you leave it up to someone else, and if you’ve got a few dollars to spare why not buy an extra set of postcards for someone else who doesn’t have the cash to buy a set for themselves.

Is there some online facility to show support for making another movie? I’m in China and the cards would be difficult to get where I am.

Is there any reason you can’t order the wavecards online? I’m not in the US, and while I had a chance to buy some cards while I was visiting there, I had planned to buy more online soon…
