I am really looking forward to watching Firefly on blu-ray. The best thing in the world would be more episodes if there was any way to do that!
Otherwise I’d love to see more outtakes, interviews and also something about the characters’ backgrounds.

As to buying more Firefly stuff? I definitely suggest getting the blu-rays because of the great quality and giving the DVD sets to friends as a gift - infecting more people with the Firefly virus!

From the very first I never understood why Mr. Whedon would do another show for FOX, since they cancelled “Angel” after only 5 seasons. Maybe he should pitch his Firefly/Serenity to the Sci-fi channel. I bought the box set of Firefly, fell in love and was again disappointed to learn that it had been cancelled. Then I heard about the Serenity movie and bought that, but it was not the 2-disc set, which I plan on buying in the future. But please, for all of Firefly fans sanity, make more episodes! Jeez, what does it take for you to get the message, that people will watch it and love it especially if you use the same people.

I’ve had Serenity at 720p for a while now… it’s great!

Personally I reckon Jewel’s open to the possibility of continuing Firefly and there being more movies made but it sounds like she’s just being positive without there being any real facts driving a new series/movie et al.

We all hit hard for a movie. The movie was made. We waited to see how well it did at the cinemas and the asian market went straight to dvd. We know from Joss himself that the possibility of making the other two films was cut short because of it.

There’s nothing I’d like to see more than further episodes or more movies but I’m not holding my breath.

Fans have already started a petition to save Dollhouse and it’s not even started yet. Says something. Can’t the fans bankroll more episodes ?

I would like to see the previews of Serenity 2 and/or the new series in the same universe contained in this new blu-ray set. They put that in there, and mean it, I’ll buy a half-dozen.

I will not be buying the re release either because i do not have a blu ray player, and also because i feel that we have been faithful to the ‘verse and bought and supported it and the studios have NOT repaid us in kind. I feel somewhat like a walking ATM machine, I’ve given cash time and time again to them and all i seem to be getting in return is some merchandising. Each time i open my wallet with the idea that MAYBE, this time it will make them see that making more Firefly/Serenity is a worthwhile endeavor.And each time I’m left holding kitchsy merchandise and nothing else. When studio exes start seeing me as more than a walking $ sign I’ll gladly spend money.Make a movie, restart the series, something. But I’ve been burned one too many times to just hand over my hard earned money on hope.

I have a lot of sympathy for the second point. I’m starting to get rather annoyed with the constant re-releasing of things and even with all the new merchandise from Universal. It’s cool and all, but give me another movie already! Or bring back the series with original cast and crew! How many times do they have to test the waters to see if there’s a market for Firefly/Serenity?

I will not buy the new Firefly release mainly because I do not have a way to play blu-ray, but also because I am feeling tapped out.

There are tons and tons of Browncoats out there and we all love Firefly ‘verse! But seriously?!?! How many more times do we need to buy the movie or the series to prove it? How many more conventions do we have to attend? How many more t-shirts do we need to own? As a fan, I am beginning to feel a bit taken advantage of.

Why did FOX wait so long to re-release FF? And why limit their market by releasing it on blu-ray only? I feel like they see Universal’s success with the fandom and now they’re jumping on the Browncoat bandwagon. I should probably feel relieved and say it’s about time, but I am both weary and leery of FOX. You can’t really blame me…I am a Browncoat after all!

While I will always be a HUGE fan of Firefly/Serenity–it’s in my DNA–I am feeling a little drained and tapped out with all this re-release business.

Star Wars has done just what you’re afraid of, and released a ridiculous amount of different versions of the same movies. But they still go back and make more. I think there are two reasons for it. The first is that they make money. The second is that the right people are enthusiastic about it. That’s the reason that I haven’t given up hope on a sequel. There’s money to be made, and Joss and the whole crew still want to do it.

If they reissue the Firefly set every year, each time with a different commentary (but with commentary for every episode), I would buy it each time. I loooove commentaries. That said, let’s make more episodes! Do it like this, a comic book series - get paid to storyboard and write a script, followed by an animated TV series based on the comic books (already paid for the script and the first storyboards, so -cheap!) ’cause getting the original cast for voice work -much easier right now when everyone’s working. Then, live action episodes.

Very impressed with this blog… it’s good to see folks so involved in all aspects of the series & film.

I don’t understand my adoration of th Firefly/Serenity - for the last two months my girlfriend and I have continually watched the series and the movie almost daily and never get sick of it. If we’re working around the house and we have Firefly or Serenity playing in the background, I can visualize every scene - like most of you can. When we win the lottery - har dee har har - we are going to build a Serenity ship in the middle of a big ass field.

QUESTION:
The word SHINY… it seems to have a variety of meanings in the shows and film. Anybody know more about the definition (if any) of SHINY??
